Drafting Checker

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Drafting Checker to join our Design & Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing and verifying technical drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, layouts, and engineering documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards, project specifications, and customer requirements.

This role involves close collaboration with drafting, engineering, project management, production, and customer-facing teams to identify discrepancies, resolve technical issues, maintain drawing quality, and ensure timely delivery of project documentation.

Advanced English proficiency is required to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and review technical documentation in English.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify shop drawings, fabrication drawings, layouts, and technical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
• Ensure drawings align with project specifications, customer requirements, engineering intent, and manufacturing constraints.
• Identify discrepancies, omissions, inconsistencies, and coordination issues before drawings are released.
• Verify that revisions, markups, and customer comments are properly incorporated into drawing packages.
• Maintain consistency in drafting standards, drawing formats, annotations, and documentation practices.
• Coordinate with drafters, engineers, project managers, and production teams to resolve technical and documentation issues.
• Track drawing progress and review status across multiple active projects.
• Prioritize deliverables to meet project milestones, customer commitments, and internal deadlines.
• Monitor review schedules and ensure drawing packages are completed and released on time.
• Maintain accurate project tracking records and documentation status reports.
• Communicate project risks, schedule deviations, and quality concerns to relevant stakeholders.
• Identify recurring drawing errors and recommend improvements to review procedures and quality standards.
• Support the development of review checklists and provide guidance to drafting team members on quality expectations and best practices.

Requirements

• Technical degree, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in drafting, detailing, drawing verification, or technical drawing review.
• Proven experience reviewing shop drawings, fabrication drawings, or construction documentation.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting software.
• Solid understanding of technical documentation, fabrication drawings, detailing practices, and drawing standards.
• Knowledge of document control, revision management, and change tracking processes.
• Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
• Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken), with the ability to review technical documentation, communicate project requirements, participate in meetings, and coordinate effectively with English-speaking stakeholders.

Mandatory requirement: Candidates must currently reside in the Monterrey NL metropolitan area.
