The Role

YossiG is seeking an experienced Lead Drafter to lead the technical development and documentation of our projects.

This is not simply a drafting position. We are looking for someone who can take design intent and turn it into a clear, coordinated, accurate and buildable set of drawings.

The Lead Drafter is expected to think beyond the redlines: identify missing information, anticipate construction issues, ask the right questions, coordinate details, and take ownership of getting drawing packages across the finish line.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead production of Design Development and Construction Document sets
• Produce plans, elevations, sections, RCPs, finish plans, millwork drawings and construction details
• Translate sketches, renderings and design concepts into accurate technical documentation
• Develop details rather than waiting for every solution to be provided
• Review drawing sets for accuracy, consistency, coordination and constructability
• Identify conflicts, missing information and potential field issues proactively
• Coordinate architectural backgrounds and consultant information
• Maintain drawing standards, templates, organization and revision control
• Review and redline work produced by junior and outside drafting resources
• Work closely with lead designers to maintain design intent throughout documentation
• Support construction through RFIs, revisions and technical clarifications
• Help continuously improve YossiG's documentation standards and drafting processes

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional drafting experience in interior design or architecture
• Strong experience with high-end residential and/or multifamily projects
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (Sketchup a plus)
• Strong understanding of construction documentation and interior detailing
• Knowledge of millwork, cabinetry, lighting, finishes and architectural detailing
• Ability to independently develop a project from design development through a comprehensive CD package
• Strong understanding of how drawings translate into field conditions
• Experience reviewing or overseeing the work of other drafters
• Exceptional attention to detail and organization
• Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• NYC construction and code knowledge strongly preferred

What Success Looks Like

A successful Lead Drafter at YossiG doesn't simply draw what they're told.

They look at a drawing and ask:

Does this work? Is something missing? Can this actually be built? Does it coordinate with everything else? What problem might the contractor encounter later that we can solve now?

We should be able to hand you a project and trust that you will take ownership of the documentation, communicate when information is missing, proactively solve problems, and deliver a set that the design team is proud to sign our name to.
