What they need

Draftsman

High Duty Plastics Limited | Rotorua

High Duty Plastics is a long-established, family-owned manufacturing business specialising in CNC machining and the supply of quality finished components across a wide range of industries.

We operate from a modern, purpose-built workshop and have a friendly, down-to-earth team where design and production work closely together.

Due to continued growth, we're looking for a Draftsman to join our team.

The Role

This is a practical drafting role where you'll take customer requirements, sketches, samples, or existing drawings and turn them into accurate working drawings ready for production.

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Creating and modifying CAD drawings for manufacture.
  • Reading and interpreting technical and engineering drawings.
  • Working with customers to understand their requirements.
  • Preparing drawings from sketches, samples, or existing designs.
  • Checking dimensions, tolerances, and specifications for accuracy.
  • Working closely with our CNC and production team to resolve any drawing or manufacturing queries.
  • Updating drawings and documentation when changes are required.
  • Using our More Manufacturing system to create and manage work orders.
  • Following our quality, ISO 9001, and Health & Safety procedures.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in CAD drafting, technical drawing, or a similar role.
  • Can confidently read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in producing accurate work.
  • Has a practical understanding of how parts are manufactured.
  • Is comfortable communicating with customers and workshop staff.
  • Is organised and able to manage multiple jobs at once.
  • Has good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Experience within CNC machining, engineering, plastics, or manufacturing would be an advantage.
  • Machining experience would be an advantage but isn't essential.
  • Ability to measure and inspect components precisely to produce detailed working drawings.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay based on skills and experience.
  • A friendly, established and supportive team.
  • A varied role where you'll see your drawings become finished components.
  • Opportunities to develop your skills and grow within the business.

If you're a practical Draftsman who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working closely with a production team, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply with your CV and a short cover letter telling us a bit about yourself and your drafting experience.
