Draughtsman

About the role

This role involves creating technical drawings by turning initial ideas, notes, and calculations into accurate schematics and buildable blueprints. You will use CAD software to build and edit models, ensure compliance with local building codes and safety regulations, collaborate with production managers and teams to review and refine plans, perform calculations for material quantities and dimensional scales, and update blueprints based on engineering feedback or on-site changes.

Key responsibilities

• Create technical drawings and accurate schematics from initial ideas, notes, and calculations
• Build and edit models using CAD programs such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
• Verify that drawings align with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards
• Work closely with production managers, supervisors, and office staff to review and refine plans
• Compute material quantities, weight limits, and dimensional scales
• Modify existing blueprints based on engineering feedback or on-site changes

About you

• Strong experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD and SolidWorks)
• Understanding of engineering principles
• Strong grasp of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry for exact scaling
• Ability to read technical reports and write documentation for production teams
• Associate's degree or certificate in drafting, engineering design, or architecture
• Junior Drafter: 0 to 2 years of experience, or Mid-level Drafter: 3 to 5 years of experience, or Senior Drafter: 5+ years of hands-on design and project leadership
