About Ryno Works

Ryno Works is a drilling and blasting contractor working on utility and heavy civil jobs across the West. We're currently on a long-term transmission line project, drilling grouted rock anchors, setting ground rods, and drilling and shooting tower foundations.

The Position

We're hiring an experienced top hammer driller to run one of our Epiroc SmartROC T40/T45 rigs. The job is already underway in eastern Nevada and moves north with the line toward southern Idaho. It's remote country and a long job, so you'll need your own RV or camper and be ready to stay on the road.

We own our drills and we expect them to be taken care of. That means daily inspections, regular greasing, keeping the rig clean, and reporting problems right away. Take ownership of your rig and you'll fit in well here.

Responsibilities

• Operate a SmartROC T40/T45 in rugged, off-road right-of-way conditions
• Drill for grouted rock anchors, ground rods, and foundation blast patterns
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections, daily maintenance, and field repairs
• Clean and pressure wash equipment to company standards
• Submit daily drill logs and JHAs through our digital reporting forms
• Coordinate with blasters on hole patterns and ground conditions
• Assist with blasting, anchor installation, and general site work as needed
• Transport and position equipment safely between sites

Crew Standards

• Fit for duty. Arrive early, rested, and ready to work at start time. These are long days in remote locations.
• Line safety. When working near energized lines, the spotter keeps eyes on the equipment at all times. Every crew member has the authority to stop work if clearance is in question.
• Daily planning. We start each day with a Plan of the Day covering site and travel hazards. Read it and follow it.
• Clean equipment. Keep your rig, truck, and cab clean and organized, and take trash out daily.
• Professional conduct. Treat your crew, customers, and landowners with respect. Stay positive in tough conditions and raise issues early.
• Drug- and alcohol-free workplace. We follow a testing program that includes pre-employment, random, and post-incident testing.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hard rock top hammer drilling experience
• Seat time on an Epiroc SmartROC T40 or T45
• Proven record of working safely around energized overhead lines
• Class A CDL with a clean driving record
• Your own RV or camper
• Ability to commit to long-term travel
• Strong mechanical aptitude and pride in equipment care
• Comfortable with basic smartphone or tablet reporting
• Ability to work independently or as part of a small crew

Powerline, grouted anchor, or ground rod experience is a strong plus.

Drillers based in the Salt Lake, Elko, Las Vegas, Ely, or southern Idaho areas are encouraged to apply.
