Job Description Summary: Assists driller in drilling operations including:

• Assisting in drill loading, unloading and load securement
• Setting up drill and equipment on site
• Handling sampling equipment and providing samples to client
• Handling augers and other drill tooling
• Assisting with equipment maintenance and repair (including tooling maintenance)
• Cleaning equipment and keeping work area clean and free of debris
• Maintaining a clean and organized truck and drill
• Hauling supplies and equipment
• Using tools, equipment and machinery including pickups, wrenches, fall protection systems and other safety equipment

Skills and Ability:

• Ability to read and write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
• Ability to speak clearly to others and understand directions given
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
• Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions and directions
• Ability to work in a team environment and react to urgent operational needs

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and Equipment:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Current driver’s license (DZ or AZ preferred) with clean drivers abstract
• Graduate of Fleming College Drilling Program (asset but not required)

While performing the duties of this job:

• The employee is regularly required to stand, bend and twist, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, talk or hear, and reach above the shoulder with hands and arms
• The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk and sit
• The employee regularly performs work involving use of hands and wrists
• The employee is occasionally required to walk on uneven surfaces
• The employee must frequently (3-6 times/hour) lift and/or move 40 to 70 pounds and occasionally, with help, up to 100 pounds
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Good eye-to-hand coordination is essential

Work Environment:

• The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment
• The employee is occasionally exposed to chemicals
• The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and noise
• The employee may be exposed to hazards confined spaces, working at heights and dusty conditions
• The employee may work in extremely hot or extremely cold environmental conditions
• The employee may be required to work 14-hours in a day
