HDD Drilling Crew – Foreman, Driller & Vac Operator

TDOT Civil is currently hiring experienced personnel for municipal/city underground utility construction work in Brampton and surrounding GTA areas.

We are hiring for the following positions:

1. Drilling Crew Foreman
2. HDD Driller / Drill Operator
3. Hydrovac / Vac Operator

We are looking for reliable, safety-focused individuals with experience working on underground utility and telecom construction projects.

Drilling Crew Foreman

The Foreman will be responsible for managing the drilling crew and coordinating daily field operations.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise HDD drilling crews
• Review locates, drawings and daily work requirements
• Coordinate drilling, hydrovac and excavation activities
• Plan bore paths and oversee safe drilling operations
• Ensure work meets City/municipal requirements
• Complete daily production and field documentation
• Conduct pre-job and safety meetings
• Coordinate equipment, materials and crew requirements
• Ensure proper traffic control and site safety procedures are followed

Requirements:

• Previous experience as an HDD/drilling foreman
• Strong understanding of underground utilities and utility locates
• Experience working on municipal/city projects preferred
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Valid driver's licence

HDD Driller / Drill Operator

Responsibilities:

• Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment
• Perform drilling, reaming and conduit installation
• Read utility locates and understand bore profiles
• Complete daily equipment inspections
• Work closely with the locator, foreman and vac operator
• Maintain safe clearances from existing utilities
• Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

Requirements:

• Previous HDD drilling experience required
• Experience with Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch drilling equipment is an asset
• Strong understanding of utility locates and safe digging practices
• Valid driver's licence preferred

Hydrovac / Vac Operator

Responsibilities:

• Operate vacuum/hydrovac equipment for utility exposure and daylighting
• Support HDD drilling and excavation crews
• Safely expose existing utilities before drilling
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
• Follow municipal and site-specific safety requirements
• Maintain a clean and safe work area

Requirements:

• Previous vac/hydrovac operating experience preferred
• Underground utility construction experience is an asset
• Valid driver's licence
• DZ/AZ licence is a strong asset depending on equipment operated

What We're Looking For

Candidates should be dependable, safety-conscious and comfortable working outdoors in an active construction environment. Applicants must be able to work as part of a crew and follow established utility construction and safety procedures.

City/municipal underground utility experience will be considered a strong asset.

Schedule

• Full-time
• Monday to Friday
• Weekend and overtime work may be available
• Work primarily in Brampton and surrounding GTA areas

Compensation

Competitive hourly rates based on position, qualifications and experience.
