What You'll Be Doing

1. Supervises and coordinates all drilling activities to achieve daily and monthly production targets in accordance with approved work programs.
2. Leads, directs, and oversees drilling personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate drilling operations in compliance with approved parameters, quality standards, and safety procedures.
3. Monitors and evaluates drilling performance, core recovery, and penetration rates, identifying operational issues and implementing corrective measures as needed.
4. Troubleshoots mechanical, hydraulic, and operational problems affecting drill performance in close coordination with the Transport and Maintenance Specialist and Drill Mechanic, ensuring timely corrective action and minimizing downtime.
5. Plans and schedules drilling activities, mobilization, and demobilization of rigs and equipment to optimize resource utilization and field efficiency.
6. Inspects drill sites and equipment regularly to verify operational safety, environmental compliance, and readiness before and during drilling activities.
7. Ensures proper handling, labeling, and transfer of core boxes and samples in coordination with the Core Checker and Geologic Aide.
8. Prepares and submits daily drilling reports, meterage updates, fuel usage, and equipment status for monitoring and documentation.
9. Coordinates with the Exploration Geologist for drilling priorities, target depth, and collar positioning to maintain alignment with exploration objectives.
10. Enforces compliance with PGMC safety, health, and environmental standards, and promotes proper housekeeping and safe work practices at drill sites.
11. Trains and mentors drilling personnel on safe operation procedures, preventive maintenance, and efficient work methods.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree, Senior High School graduate, High School graduate or completion of a Vocational/Technical Course in Automotive, Mechanical Technology or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Drill Operator in surface drilling operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Strong background in mechanical troubleshooting, core drilling techniques, and equipment maintenance.
• Proficient in core drilling operations, troubleshooting, and equipment inspection.
• Knowledgeable in rig setup, borehole alignment, and penetration optimization.
• Skilled in mechanical and hydraulic system maintenance and repair coordination.
• Familiar with geological drilling parameters and QA/QC requirements.
• Trained in basic first aid, firefighting, and safe work practices.
