Driver Assessor and Coach

About the role

This is a part time role based in Tauranga city, up to 20 hours a week (negotiable), including some driving as required. There will be times when longer hours are needed to meet the needs of the business. It would suit someone stepping back from full time work who still has plenty to offer.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out in person driving assessments and performance interviews, with occasional travel to Waikato and Auckland
• Use driver and vehicle data to guide each assessment and coaching conversation
• Hold positive, practical coaching conversations that lift driving safety and efficiency
• Write clear reports and keep accurate records in our systems
• Help develop the assessment and coaching service as it grows, including processes, tools and reporting
• Drive when required
• Depending on your experience, you may also help manage staffing and customer support, and assist with recruiting drivers and operators

About you

• Excellent people skills
• A current Class 5 licence and a clean driving record
• A strong understanding of the transport sector and how heavy vehicle operations run
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft 365 and working with data
• A coaching style drivers respect: honest, constructive and practical
• Willingness to drive when required, travel occasionally to Waikato and Auckland, and work longer hours when the business needs it
• Tipper experience (preferred, not essential)
• Experience training or assessing drivers
• The NZQA workplace assessor unit standard (4098) or an I (instructor) endorsement an advantage
• Wheels, tracks and rollers (W, T, R) or dangerous goods (D) endorsements an advantage

Driveforce is a Tauranga based staffing and recruitment business that works only in transport. We supply contract drivers and operators to transport, logistics and civil businesses across the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Auckland. We are adding driver assessments and coaching to our services.
