Overview

Salit Metals is a wholesale and retail metal distribution and processing services center located in Buffalo, NY.

Position Summary

As a Salit Metals Driver you will be responsible for short-haul, local / regional deliveries of steel to a variety of customers throughout Western New York. You will be operating and driving a straight truck and tractor trailer to transport steel to one of our many customers.

Position Functions

• Operating and driving straight truck and tractor trailer to transport goods and materials
• Hauling steel on a flat-bed trailer
• Tarp and ensure safety and security of cargo
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights and brakes
• Inspect load for accuracy of orders and quality of material
• Ensure customers receive correct material
• Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
• Complete driver log book, inspection reports, accident / incident reports
• Provide exceptional and friendly customer service.
• Flex into warehouse to assist operations team when daily deliveries are complete
• Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

The successful incumbent will be working Monday through Friday 40+ hours per week operating and driving trucks.

Physical Requirements

Driving and sitting for extended periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications

• New York State CDL-A license
• Flatbed experience and experience hauling steel would be preferred
• Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) Certificate
• Air Brake Adjustment Certificate
• Criminal record check, driving record check, medical exam, drug test
• Sound knowledge of safe driving practices
• Previous experience working in an industrial environment is an asset
• Previous experience in machine operation is preferred

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
