KAM Transport is looking for a reliable, experienced Class 5 Linehaul Driver to join our Christchurch-based operation.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys linehaul driving, is comfortable working nights and doesn't mind spending time away from home.

About the role

Based in Christchurch, you'll be responsible for transporting freight across established South Island linehaul routes, with occasional inter-island travel.

Your regular runs will include:

• Christchurch to Nelson
• Christchurch to Dunedin
• Inter-island linehaul work when required

You'll need to be comfortable working independently, managing your driving hours and staying away from home when the job requires it.

What you'll be doing

• Operating Class 5 HPMV truck and trailer combinations safely and professionally.
• Completing scheduled linehaul runs between Christchurch, Nelson and Dunedin.
• Undertaking occasional inter-island freight movements.
• Transporting general freight, including chilled and frozen goods where required.
• Completing vehicle pre-start checks and reporting any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Ensuring freight is appropriately secured and transported safely.
• Maintaining accurate driving logs and complying with work-time and logbook requirements.
• Following transport regulations, company procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Communicating effectively with dispatch, customers and the wider operations team.
• Taking pride in your vehicle, your work and the service you deliver.

What we're looking for

We're after an experienced driver who knows the transport industry, understands the importance of safety and can be relied upon to get the job done.

To be successful, you'll need:

• A current, clean New Zealand Class 5 driver's licence.
• Proven experience operating Road Ranger gearboxes.
• Experience driving HPMV truck and trailer configurations.
• Previous linehaul driving experience, ideally across South Island routes.
• Willingness to work night shifts and flexible hours.
• Availability to stay away from home when required.
• A good understanding of NZ transport regulations, work-time rules and fatigue management.
• Strong communication skills and a professional attitude.
• The ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.

Experience transporting chilled and frozen freight would be an advantage, but it's not essential.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is dependable, safety-conscious and takes pride in being a professional driver.
