Job Title Contract: Permanent

Hours: 15 hours per week

Main duties of the job

A part time driver is required to join the UEL Transport team, based at the Southampton General Hospital. The department operates from 0600 to 2030 with varied shifts within these times.

You will be required to complete the safe and compliant movement of UHS/UEL Supplies. You'll need to have previous driving experience of the local Southampton area, and the ability and licence to drive a variety of vehicles including a mini bus and a 7.5 tonne.

You will need to be customer focused with good communication skills. You will be offered essential manual handling training and the opportunity to complete a Driver CPC.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities UEL Transport complete the safe and compliant movement of UHS/UEL Supplies. We encourage safe processes and a good team working environment.

• Undertake all transport duties as per the schedule or as directed by the Head Driver. This includes all or any transporting of:-
• Staff to and from place of work.
• Mail and parcels to various Hospitals, Medical Centres and Practices.
• The shipment of bloods, pharmacy, linen, specimens, clinical equipment and food.
• Daily maintenance checks of vehicles, as per driver instruction sheets and to report any defects to the Transport Supervisor.
• Ensure, at all times, that the vehicle is driven within the requirements of the Road Traffic Act.
• Carry out all duties in a helpful and courteous manner.

You will require a full driving licence.

Qualifications / Training Required Essential criteria

• Full driving licence - with no more than 3 points. Able to drive a 17 seater minibus on a D1 Licence

Desirable criteria

• Previous manual handling training
• CPC Driver – or to complete within 6 months

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential criteria

• Previous driving experience and knowledge of Southampton
• Ability to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonne
• Team working

Desirable criteria

• Knowledge of Hampshire infrastructure
