About the role

The Driver cum Safety Coordinator is a dual-role position responsible for transporting personnel, materials, and equipment to and from the construction site while enforcing Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) standards across site operations. The ideal candidate is a reliable, safety-conscious individual who leads by example and ensures that all driving and site activities comply with company policies and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Ferry workers, supervisors, and visitors to and from the site as required
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (brakes, tyres, lights, oil, coolant) and report any defects immediately
  • Maintain accurate delivery orders (DO), trip logs, fuel records, and vehicle maintenance schedules
  • Plan efficient routes to minimize delays and fuel consumption and adhere to all traffic laws and site speed limits
  • Assist with loading and unloading of materials, ensuring proper securing of loads and safe manual handling techniques
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of the site, vehicles, and work areas to identify and rectify unsafe conditions or practices immediately
  • Conduct daily Toolbox Meetings and pre-shift safety briefings to communicate safety protocols, operational priorities, and hazard awareness
  • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and equipment damage and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis
  • Manage the inventory and issuance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure all safety equipment is inspected and maintained regularly

About you

  • Valid Class 3/4/5 driving licence with a clean driving record
  • Valid WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (or equivalent Level B qualification)
  • Minimum 2–3 years of practical experience in a construction environment, combining driving and safety coordination duties
  • Ability to juggle driving schedules and safety inspections efficiently
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with site workers, subcontractors, and management regarding safety matters
  • Keen eye for identifying hazards (e.g., road risks, unsafe acts, improper PPE) and unsafe conditions
  • Ability to work in a construction site environment, including exposure to noise, heat, and dust, and to perform manual loading/unloading tasks
  • Certification in BCSS (Building Construction Supervisors Safety), Work-at-Height (WAH), or Confined Space is highly advantageous
  • Experience with ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 management systems is a plus
