Driver (Flatbed, Stepdeck, RGN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and dependable Driver specializing in Flatbed, Stepdeck, and RGN (Removable Gooseneck) trailers to join our heavy haul fleet. In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting freight across various over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. Your expertise in handling specialized trailers and cargo will play a vital role in maintaining our reputation for reliable service. Responsibilities

• Operate flatbed, stepdeck, and RGN trailers with precision on over-the-road routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
• Safely load, secure, and unload freight using manual handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
• Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes for timely deliveries while maintaining awareness of traffic conditions and road restrictions.
• Transport various types of cargo including freight that requires specialized handling such as hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, or oversized loads like tanker or dump truck configurations.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
• Load and unload cargo efficiently at multiple delivery points, ensuring proper cargo handling procedures are followed to prevent damage or accidents.
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and inspection reports in accordance with FMCSA regulations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating flatbed, stepdeck, RGN, or similar tractor-trailer configurations with a strong understanding of load securement techniques.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to flatbed or hazardous materials transportation as applicable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck driving.
• Skilled in GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient delivery schedules across long-distance OTR routes.
• Experience with truck loading/unloading procedures including manual handling and forklift operation if required.
• Ability to handle specialized equipment such as tanker trucks or dump trucks when necessary for specific loads.
• Strong commitment to safety protocols, risk management, and professional driving standards.
