What they need

Driver / General Labourer
ProRenovate Construction Ltd
Halesowen and surrounding areas
£18.75 per paid hour / £150 per full day
Self-employed subcontract opportunity

ProRenovate Construction Ltd is looking for a reliable, organised and practical Driver / General Labourer to support our renovation projects.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining material collections and deliveries with general labouring and site support. Access to a work van is provided for agreed work duties.

We need someone who can work independently, use initiative, plan their day effectively and solve everyday practical problems. Good communication with management, suppliers and our site teams is essential.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect and deliver building materials, tools, equipment and site fencing.
  • Transport materials and equipment between renovation sites.
  • Check collections against orders and report missing, incorrect or damaged items.
  • Plan routes and collection timings around agreed site priorities and supplier opening hours.
  • Load, secure and unload materials safely.
  • Assist with general labouring, moving materials, site preparation, clearance and tidying.
  • Support tradespeople with practical tasks as required.
  • Keep the work van clean and organised, carry out routine vehicle checks and report faults.
  • Communicate progress, delays and problems promptly.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Full, clean driving licence valid for driving our work van in the UK.
  • Confident and safe van driver.
  • Able to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Uses initiative and takes a practical approach to solving problems.
  • Good planning, organisation and communication skills.
  • Reliable and punctual on agreed working days.
  • Comfortable with both driving and physical site work.
  • Able to carry out loading, unloading and labouring safely, using appropriate equipment and assistance.
  • Sufficient spoken and written English to understand safety instructions, check material orders and communicate with suppliers and site teams.
  • Right to work in the UK, including permission to undertake self-employed work.
  • Valid UTR and CIS subcontractor registration, with details available for verification.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Previous construction, renovation or general labouring experience.
  • Experience collecting from builders’ merchants and delivering building materials.
  • Familiarity with common construction materials, tools and equipment.
  • Experience securing loads safely in a van.

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS

Work is normally available Monday–Friday, up to 40 paid hours per week. Days are agreed around your availability and project requirements, and you are free to accept or decline offered work.

Usual hours on agreed working days are 8:00am–4:30pm, including:

  • 10:30–10:45am: paid morning break.
  • 1:00–1:30pm: unpaid lunch break.

A full day comprises eight paid hours. Work takes place across Halesowen and surrounding areas.

RATE AND PAYMENT

The rate is £18.75 per paid hour, equivalent to £150 for a full eight-paid-hour day, before applicable CIS deductions. You invoice for hours worked.

For subcontractors verified by HMRC at the standard 20% CIS rate, a £150 labour payment has a £30 deduction, leaving £120 payable. The actual deduction rate will follow HMRC verification instructions.

Access to a work van is provided for agreed work duties. Arrangements for collecting, keeping and using the van will be discussed before starting.

HOW TO APPLY

Apply with your CV or a brief summary of relevant experience, your availability and confirmation that you meet the driving licence, right-to-work and CIS requirements.

Please do not include your UTR or identity documents in your initial application.

Pay: £18.75 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
