Driver Helper

POSITION SUMMARY

The Driver Helper assists company drivers with loading, unloading, and delivering products to customers. This position supports the safe, efficient, and timely completion of delivery trips by helping drivers with physical delivery tasks and other duties as needed.

This is a non-driving position. Driver Helpers do not operate company vehicles and are responsible for assisting the assigned driver throughout the trip.

This position requires out-of-town travel approximately twice per week, with each trip typically lasting two days and requiring one overnight stay away from home. Candidates must be comfortable with overnight travel and the physical demands of assisting with deliveries.

On days when the employee is not assigned to a delivery trip, the employee will perform warehouse and other operational duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Driver Assistance and Delivery Support

• Assist drivers with loading and unloading products from delivery vehicles.
• Help organize, handle, and secure products to support safe transportation and prevent product damage.
• Assist with moving products into designated customer delivery areas.
• Provide physical assistance to drivers during deliveries, including moving products and handling merchandise.
• Help verify products against delivery documents when requested.
• Assist with maintaining an organized delivery vehicle and delivery area.
• Communicate with the assigned driver and Operations team regarding delivery issues, product discrepancies, or damaged merchandise.
• Follow all company safety procedures and customer delivery requirements.
• Perform other delivery-related duties as assigned by the driver or supervisor.

B. Warehouse and Operational Support

On days when the employee is not assigned to a delivery trip, responsibilities may include:

• Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing products in the warehouse.
• Move, sort, and stage products in designated warehouse areas.
• Assist with general warehouse cleanup and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
• Help warehouse personnel with other operational tasks as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or designated supervisor.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK SCHEDULE

• Out-of-Town Travel: Must be available and willing to travel out of town approximately twice per week.
• Trip Duration: Each trip typically lasts two days and requires one overnight stay away from home.
• Overnight Availability: Must be comfortable staying overnight away from home as required by the delivery schedule.
• Non-Trip Days: Perform warehouse and other operational duties as assigned.
• Schedule Flexibility: Must be able to accommodate delivery schedules, overnight stays, and operational needs.
• Driving: This is strictly a non-driving position. The employee will assist the assigned driver but will not drive the delivery vehicle.

COMPENSATION

• Delivery Trips: $412 per trip.
• Warehouse Work: $15.00 per hour for hours worked performing warehouse and other assigned hourly duties.
• Compensation will be administered in accordance with applicable federal and state wage and hour laws, including applicable minimum wage and overtime requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Must be willing and able to travel out of town approximately twice per week, including overnight stays.
• Must be comfortable spending one night away from home per trip, with trips typically lasting two days.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling products.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday.
• Ability to assist with loading and unloading products safely.
• Dependable, punctual, and willing to accommodate varying delivery schedules.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively with drivers and warehouse personnel.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.
• Previous warehouse, delivery, or material-handling experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow company safety policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Ability to handle products of varying sizes and weights.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment and assist with deliveries in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position involves working in both warehouse and delivery environments.

Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures, including refrigerated or freezer areas, as well as outdoor weather conditions during deliveries. The position also requires regular out-of-town travel and overnight stays.

Work schedules may vary depending on delivery routes, customer requirements, and warehouse operational needs.

IMPORTANT POSITION REQUIREMENT

The Driver Helper is not authorized to drive or operate company delivery vehicles. The employee's primary responsibility during delivery trips is to assist the assigned driver with loading, unloading, product handling, and other delivery-related tasks.
