What they need
Are you ready to make a meaningful impact on road safety and driver development? We're seeking a Driver Trainer to join our team in the gases industry.
In this role, you'll mentor and develop drivers who transport LPG and cryogenic gases, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge and confidence to operate safely and compliantly. You'll play a key role in maintaining high standards of driver performance, dangerous goods compliance and road safety across our operations.
This role involves regular travel throughout New Zealand, as you may be required to visit different locations around the country to train, assess and support drivers. Flexibility and a willingness to travel are therefore essential.
Your expertise will be crucial in enhancing driver skills, identifying and addressing risk, and promoting a positive and safety-focused work culture. If you're looking to contribute to a dynamic and supportive environment where your experience can make a real difference, we encourage you to apply and become part of our commitment to excellence in safe driving practices.
What you’ll be doing
- Train, mentor and assess drivers transporting LPG and cryogenic gases, ensuring compliance with transport, dangerous goods and company requirements
- Travel throughout New Zealand to deliver driver training, assessments, coaching and onboarding
- Conduct pre-employment drives, new driver onboarding, annual assessments and post-incident training, including Performance Improvement Plans
- Coach drivers on speed, fatigue management, in-vehicle camera systems, hazard and risk detection, and EROAD performance
- Conduct audits and reviews of logbooks, fatigue management, customer sites, trucks and driver performance data
- Manage training records and external training, identify improvement opportunities, and build strong relationships with drivers and operational teams
What Makes You Great
- Experience in driver training, coaching or leadership, ideally within the gases, transport or dangerous goods industry
- Class 2 - 5 licence with Dangerous Goods endorsement
- Strong understanding of NZTA compliance fatigue management and dangerous goods requirements
- Knowledge of the safe transportation of LPG, cryogenic gases or other dangerous goods
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout New Zealand for driver training and assessments
- Strong coaching, mentoring and communication skills, with the ability to build driver capability and positive relationships
- Strong focus on safety, compliance and continuous improvement, with the ability to analyse driving data, conduct audits and identify high-risk behaviours
Applicants MUST BE a NZ resident or hold a valid NZ work permit AND be residing in the country.
