Job Purpose and Impact

The Yard Driver plays a critical role in supporting daily yard and receiving operations by safely and efficiently moving trailers, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with all safety and food safety standards.

This role is responsible for maintaining yard flow, supporting operational priorities, and executing daily direction provided by the assigned supervisor.

Primary Duties

• Safely and efficiently move trailers to support receiving, shipping, and production needs
• Replace full trailers with empty trailers in a timely manner to maintain operational flow
• Perform and document required yard checks throughout the shift
• Ensure all trailer movement logs and documentation are completed accurately and in real time (target: 100% accuracy)
• Verify and ensure trailers are properly sealed when required

Operational Support

• Prioritize trailer movement and yard flow as the primary responsibility; complete additional tasks as workload allows
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with supervisors and team members regarding workload, priorities, and issues
• Monitor yard conditions for cleanliness, safety, and organization
• Maintain and clean dock areas and aprons as needed
• Assist with inventory or yard organization efforts as assigned

Equipment & Safety

• Conduct pre- and post-shift visual inspections of yard truck and report any issues immediately
• Perform basic preventive maintenance checks as required
• Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and food safety standards
• Immediately report accidents, injuries, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions to supervision

Training & Team Support

• Assist with training new employees as assigned
• Support a team-focused environment by working collaboratively across departments

Additional Duties

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support yard and receiving operations

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company vehicle operation requirements (including MVR review)
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate or learn to operate yard trucks and maneuver trailers (including backing)
• Ability to understand and follow work instructions and safety requirements (verbal and written) in English
• Ability to work independently and follow direction from supervisors
• Demonstrated reliability and consistent work history
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (hot, cold, wet, and dry environments)

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in yard driving, warehouse, or manufacturing environments
• Experience operating tractors/trailers or similar equipment
• Previous experience within the organization

Reporting & Accountability

• This position reports directly to the assigned Supervisor
• Daily priorities, workload adjustments, and task direction are communicated through the supervisor
• Employees are expected to follow supervisor direction and seek clarification at that level before escalating concerns

Pay: From $24.78 per hour
