Drone Pilot

Position Summary

The Commercial Inspection Drone Pilot is responsible for operating drones to capture high-quality aerial data for inspection purposes across a range of industries, including construction, real estate, infrastructure, energy, and utilities. This role involves pre-flight planning, drone operation, data collection, and post-flight data management, ensuring compliance with aviation laws and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct aerial inspections of buildings, roofs, construction sites, solar farms, power lines, cell towers, and other client assets.
• Plan and execute safe flight missions, including route planning, risk assessment, and airspace compliance.
• Perform both manual and automated drone flights to capture imagery, video, photogrammetry, or thermal data.
• Operate and maintain various types of commercial drone equipment, including visual and thermal sensors.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to drone hardware, software, or sensors.
• Process and organize collected data for client delivery, which may include basic image organization, orthomosaic mapping, or 3D models.
• Manage flight logs, maintenance records, and regulatory documentation.
• Communicate effectively with clients on-site regarding inspection objectives and progress.
• Coordinate with other teams such as engineers, project managers, or data analysts as needed.

Job Requirements

• Proven experience in drone operations, particularly for commercial inspection purposes.
• Proficient in flight planning software, drone operation apps, and basic image processing tools.
• Strong understanding of airspace rules, no-fly zones, and operational restrictions.
• Technical skills in drone maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Attention to detail with a strong focus on data accuracy and safety.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspection projects.
• Good physical condition to operate in outdoor environments under varying conditions.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Skills (Optional)

• Experience with photogrammetry, LiDAR, or thermal imaging drones.
• Knowledge of construction, engineering, roofing, utilities, or energy sectors.
• Ability to obtain special flight waivers (e.g., night operations, BVLOS) if needed.
• Able to communicate in English is required
