Job Description

Fliteworks is seeking a hands-on technical generalist to help with drone hardware tasks, including maintenance, assembly, and testing. In this role, you will:

• Perform routine inspection, cleaning, and repairs of drones and supporting equipment both at our headquarters and customer field locations;
• Carry out evaluation procedures for drones in various outdoor environments;
• Help assemble new drones and drone equipment; and
• Generally assist with technical hardware tasks.

This role focuses on hands-on work with hardware, from small electronics to larger parts, so dexterity and physical coordination are important. The work will mostly take place in-person at our office and workshop on the Brooklyn waterfront, but travel may be required from time-to-time to perform support tasks at infrastructure and construction sites around the contiguous United States. An additional daily stipend will be provided to cover travel costs.

This role offers a track to a full-time position, and it is designed to offer learning and opportunities to grow to greater levels of responsibility. Fliteworks is a quickly-growing new business in an emerging field, and the intent of this role is to prepare you for a senior technical or leadership position as we scale.

Skills Required

• Demonstrated attention to detail and professional excellence, including safety discipline and compliance with worksite procedures;
• Demonstrated aptitude in hands-on technical work, including: Following technical instructions to carry out routine tasks and diagnose/fix problems; Assembling/disassembling electronics components with small parts; 3D printing and post-processing; Various other fabrication techniques, including woodworking, use of shop tools, and preparation & application of adhesives;
• Comfort collaborating with other technicians to solve problems;
• Comfort applying moderate physical effort, including lifting and moving loads and bulky objects, and using tools that require moderate application of force - all with safe practices;
• Comfort with occasional paid travel (approximately 1-2 weeks per quarter) to critical infrastructure locations;
• Comfort with occasional work in outdoor environments, particularly desert and agricultural regions which may have high temperatures and humidity, dirt/mud, and insects;
• Driver’s license and comfort driving in rural areas and unpaved roads; and
• FAA Part 107 drone certificate, or willingness to study for and obtain it.

Pay: From $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 per week
