HIRING: Experienced HPC Direct Support Professional — Strong Behavioral Support & De-escalation Skills Required

Oghosa Home Care & Transportation, LLC is seeking a dependable, experienced DSP to provide individualized HPC support to an individual with significant behavioral support needs.

Start Date: October 26, 2026
Schedule:

• Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 6:30–8:30 AM
• Tuesday and Thursday: 3:45–7:45 PM
• Total: 14 hours per week

Required Experience

Applicants must have direct experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities who experience behavioral escalation, including physical aggression. Candidates must be able to describe specific situations in which they successfully used de-escalation techniques.

You must be able to:

• Recognize triggers and early signs of distress.
• Use calm communication, appropriate space, redirection, and choices to reduce escalation.
• Remain composed when an individual becomes physically aggressive.
• Follow the individual’s ISP and behavior support plan consistently.
• Document behaviors, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
• Communicate promptly with supervisors and the individual’s support team.

Aegis or Verified PBI Training Required Upon Hire

Applicants must already have completed Aegis crisis prevention and de-escalation training OR agency-verified PBI training at the time of hire.

Aegis training focuses on recognizing escalation, preventing crises, and using de-escalation strategies to support safety. Applicants presenting PBI training must provide the full course name, training provider, and documentation of the skills covered so the agency can verify that it meets this assignment’s needs.

Proof of current training must be submitted and verified during hiring, before the first assigned shift. General DSP training or informal behavioral experience alone does not satisfy this requirement.

Staff must also complete training on the individual’s Positive Behavior Support (PBS) strategies and behavior support plan before providing support independently. A training certificate does not authorize staff to use interventions outside the individual’s plan and agency procedures.

Additional Requirements

• Completed DODD DSP training.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to provide HPC transportation; the assignment includes 100 transportation miles monthly.
• Reliable attendance and availability for all listed shifts.
