DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing essential support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their well-being and promoting their independence. This role requires a commitment to fostering a safe and nurturing environment while respecting the rights and dignity of each resident. The hours available include evenings and every other weekend.

Duties

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Provide support in a group home setting ensuring residents' needs are met with care and respect.
• Implement individualized care plans and monitor progress towards goals.
• Conduct regular health checks, including taking vital signs and reporting any changes in residents' conditions.
• Maintain a clean and safe living environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
• Uphold resident rights by promoting autonomy and encouraging participation in decision-making processes.
• Respond to emergencies with appropriate first aid and CPR techniques as needed.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding the confidentiality of residents' information.

Skills

• Experience working in group homes or nursing homes is preferred.
• Knowledge of first aid and CPR procedures is essential.
• Familiarity with working with people with disabilities is highly valued.
• Understanding of vital signs monitoring and basic health assessments.
• Commitment to upholding resident rights and dignity at all times.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members.
