DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The DSP will play a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs in various settings, including group homes and community care environments. This position requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those we serve through personalized care and support.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals, assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
• Assist clients in participating in community activities and social events to promote engagement and inclusion.
• Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in condition while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs, focusing on their strengths and preferences.
• Provide first aid as necessary and ensure a safe environment for all clients.
• Assist with heavy lifting when required, ensuring the safety of both clients and staff during transfers or mobility assistance.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients in long-term care or memory care settings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in long-term care, home community care, or group home settings is preferred.
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques and the ability to recognize changes in client conditions is essential.
• Certification in First Aid is highly desirable.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed while maintaining safety protocols.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and privacy is required.
• A compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality support to individuals with diverse needs.
