DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Job Overview: {Part-Time 10hrs a week}
Effective Change is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our growing team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs across home and community settings. Your primary focus will be to enhance the quality of life and promote independence for those we serve through person-centered care and meaningful engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
• Provide support in both home and community environments, ensuring a safe, respectful, and structured setting.
• Promote social engagement by encouraging participation in community-based and recreational activities.
• Follow and implement individualized care plans that reflect each client’s unique needs and preferences.
• Offer physical assistance, including mobility support and lifting, to help clients navigate their environment safely.
• Document client progress, behavioral observations, and any significant changes in condition or functioning.
• Collaborate with family members, healthcare providers, and team members to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience working with individuals diagnosed with autism and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
• Familiarity with group homes, assisted living settings, or community-based support is a plus.
• Basic cooking skills and ability to support clients with meal planning and preparation.
• Background in human services, nursing, or healthcare is advantageous, but not required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive rapport with clients.
