DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Overview:

We are seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals. As a DSP you will be working directly with adults with mental health issues with a focus on improving their wellbeing and helping them achieve their goals. The ideal candidate has a strong background in human services, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of local support systems. This is a per diem position and hours and location vary based on the caseload that will be available for you.

Duties:

• Support individuals in developing practical daily living skills, including cooking, grocery shopping, budgeting, financial literacy, and household management.
• Encourage independence by helping individuals establish routines, build confidence, and strengthen problem-solving skills.
• Accompany individuals on community outings, including visits to parks, grocery stores, recreational facilities, and other local establishments.
• Foster social interaction, communication skills, and meaningful community participation.
• Provide companionship, encouragement, and consistent support in a respectful, nonjudgmental environment.
• Assist individuals with identifying employment opportunities, completing job applications, preparing resumes, and practicing interview skills.
• Support educational and vocational goals, including GED preparation and enrollment in training programs.
• Connect individuals with appropriate community organizations, public assistance programs, and supportive services, including housing resources, SNAP, Medicaid, Social Security, and workforce development programs.
• Monitor progress toward established goals and maintain accurate, timely documentation of services provided.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, human services, sociology, education, or a related field.
• At least one year of relevant professional experience in direct support, case management, behavioral health, social services, youth services, or a related human services setting.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
