Duct Technician (Duct Installation

Job purpose

ITI in Sheet Metal / Mechanical preferred Install ductwork quickly, accurately and in the correct sequence, with no rework. The Duct Technician follows shop drawings, works around other trades in tight ceiling spaces, and suggests better and faster installation methods to the team.

Key responsibilities

• Install supply, return, fresh air, exhaust, kitchen exhaust and smoke extract / make-up air ductwork (GI and pre-insulated where applicable).
• Install fire-rated ducts, fire dampers, volume control dampers (VCD), motorised dampers, plenum boxes, flexible ducts, access doors and sound attenuators.
• Set out duct routes from shop drawings; fix threaded rods, anchors, hangers and supports at correct spacing. Assemble and seal joints (TDC/TDF flanges, slip-and-drive, sealant, gaskets) to meet leakage requirements.
• Connect ducts to FCUs, AHUs, FAHU/ERV, fans, diffusers, grilles and slot diffusers. Install duct insulation and vapour barrier correctly.
• Follow the correct order: main ducts first, then branches, then terminals, coordinated with sprinkler, electrical and plumbing routes.
• Assist in duct leakage tests and air balancing.
• Spot clashes or site problems before installing and suggest practical improvements (routing, sequence, prefabrication) to the Supervisor.
• Follow HSE rules: work at height, scaffolding and mobile towers, safe handling of sheet metal, PPE.

Skills and knowledge

• Proven fast, accurate duct installation on building and fit-out projects.
• Knowledge of SMACNA duct construction and support standards.
• Able to read duct shop drawings: sizes, levels and fittings.
• Experience with smoke extract and fire-rated duct systems (Civil Defence requirements) is a strong advantage.
• Able to lead helpers and work as a team.

Certifications (added advantage):

• Sheet metal / ductwork trade certificate
• Fire-rated duct installation training (manufacturer)
• Work at height, scaffolding and mobile tower training
• Basic HSE training

Pay: AED1.00 per month

Experience:

• Duct Installation: 3 years (Required)
