The Forge on Vulcan is located in a stunning heritage building built on the site of the original Vulcan Foundry established by blacksmith James McLeod way back in 1850.

To bring the Forge to life we need a team that will bring energy, warmth, and exceptional service to our valued guests from New Zealand and the world over.

The Forge is backed by an established award-winning hospitality group with over 25 years’ experience delivering NZ’s finest hospitality experience.  For this group hospitality fundamentally means the friendly, generous reception and entertainment of all guests and visitors.

Initially, we’re looking for an energetic Duty Manager who enjoys being on the floor and love interacting with customers and supporting their colleagues at all times. Natural friendliness and a positive attitude is a core requirement for this role.

The Role

When you’re rostered as Manager on Duty, you are responsible for the flow of service, the energy of the business, and the experience of every guest who walks through the door. Alongside this, you’ll ensure the venue runs smoothly and safely keeping the team aligned and service flowing behind the scenes.

Responsibilities will include:

• Greeting guests as they arrive and setting the tone straight away

• Running the bar, serving multiple customers at once, and keeping things moving

• Acknowledging people who are waiting and engaging them in conversation

• Building rapport with regulars and making new customers feel like locals

• Reading the room and adjusting lighting and music in line with the house guidelines to ensure the best ambience possible

Who This Suits:

An enthusiastic Duty Manager, who enjoys being visible on the floor, leading by example, and creating an environment where both customers and colleagues feel comfortable and looked after.

You will bring:

• A current Duty Manager’s Certificate

• Confidence running busy, bar‑led services

• Proven leadership skills

• Strong knowledge of beer, whisky, cocktails and bar operations

• A warm, engaging presence and genuine love of hospitality
