Duty Manager

About the Role

Majestic at Takanini is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Duty Manager to oversee daily café operations, supervise staff, and maintain high standards of customer service. This is a hands-on role involving both barista duties and shift supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee and other hot and cold beverages to a high standard.
• Welcome customers, take orders, process payments, and handle customer enquiries and complaints.
• Supervise staff, allocate duties, and assist with staff training and shift coordination.
• Ensure smooth café operations and maintain service quality during busy periods.
• Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise wastage.
• Maintain cleanliness and ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health and safety requirements.
• Assist with opening and closing duties, cash handling, and daily operational records.
• Ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with applicable licensing requirements.

Skills and Requirements

• Minimum NZQA Level 2 qualification or equivalent study, or 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience in hospitality, café operations, or customer service.
• Must hold a Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ).
• Must be willing and eligible to obtain a Manager’s Certificate.
• Clean criminal record.
• Good communication, customer service, and organisational skills.
• Ability to supervise staff and work efficiently under pressure.
• Flexible availability for rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
