What they need

Duty Supervisor – Security, Guest Services & Housekeeping

We are seeking a dedicated, responsible, and detail-oriented Duty Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the building, supporting guests with their basic needs, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and ensuring that any issues are dealt with promptly and professionally.

This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is confident managing a building, communicating with guests and staff, resolving problems, carrying out regular security and safety checks, and maintaining high standards throughout the premises.

Working Hours: Saturday and Sunday, 9:00am–5:00pm.

Previous experience in hospitality, accommodation, property management, facilities, security, or a similar supervisory role is highly desirable. A positive attitude, good judgement, reliability, and the ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult situations are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation and general running of the building during your shift.
  • Welcome and assist guests, ensuring they have a comfortable and positive experience.
  • Respond to guests' basic needs and requests and provide appropriate assistance or guidance.
  • Deal professionally with guest concerns, complaints, and day-to-day issues, using good communication and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Identify problems and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating matters to management when necessary.
  • Monitor the condition of the building and report maintenance, damage, safety, or operational issues promptly.
  • Carry out regular security and safety checks throughout the site, including communal areas, entrances, exits, and other relevant areas.
  • Ensure the building remains secure and report any suspicious activity, incidents, or security concerns to management.
  • Ensure guests and staff follow relevant building rules and procedures.
  • Complete handovers and maintain accurate records of incidents, maintenance issues, and other important matters.
  • Liaise with management, maintenance teams, contractors, housekeeping staff, and other relevant personnel when required.
  • Assist with emergency situations and follow company health, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere throughout the building.

Housekeeping and Cleaning Duties

Cleaning is not the primary responsibility of this position. The Duty Supervisor will be expected to ensure that general cleanliness and presentation standards are maintained throughout the building.

Duties will include:

  • Carrying out general cleaning of public and communal areas when required.
  • Ensuring entrances, corridors, shared facilities, kitchens, bathrooms, and other public areas are kept clean and presentable.
  • Occasionally cleaning or preparing a small number of guest rooms when required, particularly when there are new bookings or additional rooms need to be prepared.
  • Changing bed linen and replenishing basic room supplies when required.
  • Assisting with laundry duties when necessary.
  • Keeping cleaning equipment and supplies organised and reporting when supplies need replenishing.
  • Ensuring any significant cleaning, housekeeping, or maintenance issues are reported to management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience in hospitality, accommodation, property management, facilities, security, customer service, or a similar role is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or building-management experience would be advantageous.
  • A valid SIA licence/badge is welcome and would be an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deal calmly and professionally with complaints, difficult situations, and conflicts.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a responsible approach to building security and safety.
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently.
  • Comfortable carrying out regular site checks and responding to issues as they arise.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures is desirable.
  • Cleaning or housekeeping experience is advantageous, but the role is primarily focused on building supervision, guest support, security, and problem resolution.
