Put Your Dyno Expertise to Work in Racing Powertrain Development
MARTIN Technologies is seeking an experienced Propulsion Dynamometer Technologist to support advanced powertrain development for Ford Racing at a world-class test facility in Dearborn, Michigan.
If you have hands-on experience with AVL PUMA dynamometer controls and a passion for high-performance automotive technology, this is your opportunity to work alongside engineers developing and testing prototype racing powertrains. You’ll play a key role in preparing test systems, troubleshooting complex challenges, and delivering reliable data that drives performance, calibration, and durability development.
What You'll Do
- Set up, fixture, instrument, and operate dynamometer test systems for prototype engines, transmissions, and complete powertrains.
- Run advanced powertrain tests supporting racing calibration, shift tuning, rolling efficiency, track modeling, and durability.
- Build, modify, and tear down test rigs while troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls issues.
- Use AVL PUMA and automotive diagnostic tools to monitor test performance, support calibration changes, and ensure accurate results.
- Collaborate with engineers to execute test requests, analyze results, maintain documentation, and uphold quality and safety standards.
What You Bring
- Hands-on experience with AVL PUMA dynamometer controls and testing operations.
- Automotive powertrain knowledge and strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with engine, transmission, or driveline testing, ideally in a racing or high-performance environment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and instrumentation data.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and alongside engineering teams.
- High school diploma or equivalent and relevant testing experience.
Preferred: An associate degree in engineering, automotive technology, or a related field; experience with thermocouples, pressure transducers, IEPE/charge sensors, and tools such as ETAS/INCA, ATI, ADAC, CANalyzer, or PTDiag.
Schedule & Requirements
- Shift: 12:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m., with occasional day-shift support as needed and advance notice.
- Location: 100% onsite in Dearborn, Michigan.
- Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
Why Join MARTIN Technologies?
