E & I Engineer

About the role

Oceancare Corporation Sdn Bhd is seeking a skilled E & I Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. Based in Miri, Sarawak, this role is fundamental to the safe and efficient operation of our oil and gas facilities. As an E & I (Electrical & Instrumentation) Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation systems that are critical to our operations. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex projects within a dynamic and challenging environment, contributing directly to operational excellence and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement electrical and instrumentation systems for oil and gas facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
• Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and testing of electrical equipment, control systems, and instrumentation to ensure optimal performance
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and instrumentation faults, implementing corrective actions to minimise downtime and ensure operational continuity
• Prepare and review technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and installation manuals
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to support facility upgrades, modifications, and new installations
• Perform commissioning and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs) for electrical and instrumentation systems
• Monitor and analyse system performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimisation
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and company policies on all projects and activities
• Provide technical support and guidance to operational staff on the use and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems
• Document all maintenance activities, incidents, and recommendations in accordance with company procedures

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering, preferably within the oil and gas industry

OR

• Fresh graduates with relevant internship or project experience in an oil and gas company are also encouraged to apply
• Knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, SCADA, and instrumentation technologies relevant to oil and gas operations
• Proficiency in relevant software tools and CAD programmes for design and simulation
• In-depth understanding of applicable codes, standards, and regulations including IEC, API, and local Malaysian standards
• Competency in PLC and DCS programming or experience with automation systems
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Valid professional engineering certification or registration is highly desirable
• Willingness to work offshore or in remote locations as required
• Ability to obtain offshore safety certifications such as BOSIET or equivalent
