Job Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to manage daily accounting operations, inventory reconciliation, payment tracking and financial records for an e-commerce company specialising in luxury handbags.

The ideal candidate should have at least one year of accounting experience, preferably in e-commerce, retail, fashion or inventory-based businesses. The role requires strong attention to detail, accuracy in financial reporting and the ability to coordinate with the inventory and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Maintain accurate daily records of business expenses, revenue, purchases and sales.
• Record all financial transactions using accounting software.
• Maintain purchase invoices, sales invoices, payment vouchers and supporting documents.
• Prepare daily and monthly income and expense statements.
• Monitor daily cash flow and outstanding payments.

2. Inventory & Stock Reconciliation

• Conduct regular physical stock verification of luxury handbags.
• Reconcile physical inventory against accounting and inventory management records.
• Track stock movement, including purchases, sales, returns and damaged products.
• Identify and report stock discrepancies to management.
• Coordinate with inventory and warehouse teams to maintain accurate stock records.

3. Payment Tracking & Reconciliation

• Track payments received through online orders, payment gateways and bank transfers.
• Monitor pending customer payments and outstanding vendor payments.
• Perform regular bank and payment gateway reconciliation.
• Verify refunds, cancelled orders and returned product transactions.
• Maintain updated payment records and follow up on discrepancies.

4. Audit & Financial Compliance

• Assist with internal stock and financial audits.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, expenses, sales and inventory.
• Verify financial transactions and supporting documentation.
• Assist in preparing documents required for GST compliance and statutory audits.
• Identify and report accounting or inventory irregularities.

5. E-Commerce Accounting

• Reconcile sales transactions with online order management records.
• Track marketplace commissions, shipping charges, returns and refunds.
• Maintain accurate records of daily and monthly e-commerce revenue.
• Coordinate with the sales and operations teams to resolve payment and inventory discrepancies.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• B.Com, M.Com or an equivalent accounting qualification.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant accounting experience.
• Previous experience in e-commerce, retail, fashion or inventory-based businesses preferred.
• Working knowledge of Tally or similar accounting software.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel.
• Experience in stock verification and inventory reconciliation.
• Understanding of bank reconciliation and payment tracking.
• Basic knowledge of GST and accounting compliance.
• Strong numerical accuracy, organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and meet daily reporting deadlines.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates with experience in e-commerce accounting, retail inventory management, stock auditing and payment reconciliation will be preferred.

Experience handling high-value inventory, such as luxury handbags, premium fashion accessories or other luxury retail products, would be an added advantage.

Salary: ₹25,000–₹30,000 per month (maximum ₹30,000, depending on experience).
