E-commerce Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Part-Time E-commerce Specialist to support the day-to-day management and growth of an online store operating within the trade industry. The ideal candidate combines hands-on e-commerce experience with a strong understanding of trade products, particularly tools, construction equipment, hardware, building supplies, or related products. This role will also support social media marketing, online content, customer engagement, reporting, and digital marketing activities. Experience using AI tools to improve productivity, content creation, research, reporting, and marketing workflows is highly desirable.

Key responsibilities

E-commerce Management

• Manage and maintain the online store and product catalogue.
• Upload and update products, descriptions, specifications, images, pricing, categories, and inventory.
• Monitor orders, customer enquiries, product information, and store performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve the customer journey and conversion rates.
• Monitor website and e-commerce analytics and prepare basic performance reports.
• Assist with promotions, campaigns, discounts, product launches, and seasonal activity.
• Conduct competitor and market research.
• Ensure website and product information remains accurate, complete, and up to date.

Social Media Marketing

• Plan and schedule social media content.
• Create or coordinate engaging posts, captions, product content, and promotional material.
• Manage and maintain social media channels.
• Support campaigns designed to drive traffic and sales to the online store.
• Monitor engagement, reach, traffic, and other key social media metrics.
• Repurpose product and e-commerce content across relevant social platforms.

Content & Product Marketing

• Develop clear and customer-friendly product descriptions from technical information.
• Highlight product features, benefits, applications, and specifications.
• Support product launches and promotional campaigns.
• Work with internal teams or suppliers to obtain accurate product information and assets.

AI & Digital Tools

• Use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms to improve workflows.
• Use AI for product descriptions, content ideas, social media copy, research, brainstorming, and basic analysis.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive e-commerce and marketing tasks.
• Stay comfortable learning and adopting new digital tools and platforms.

About you

• 2+ years of experience in e-commerce, digital marketing, or a similar role.
• Trade industry experience is essential, ideally within construction, tools, equipment, hardware, building supplies, industrial products, or distribution.
• Hands-on experience managing an online store such as Shopify, WooCommerce, or a similar platform.
• Experience managing product catalogues, including descriptions, specifications, images, pricing, stock, and categories.
• Understanding of online customer journeys and conversion optimisation.
• Experience with social media management, content creation, and scheduling.
• Understanding of digital marketing principles and e-commerce performance metrics.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling technical product information.
• Strong written English and communication skills.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
