What they need

Be a trusted right hand to the Managing Director - and the person who makes sure things actually get done!

The Nevada Company, a renowned distributor of premium lifestyle brands such as Merrell, Sperry, Chaco, Patagonia, Wolverine, Denham and more, boasting several retail stores across New Zealand and a presence in over 250 wholesale doors, is proud to be a Canterbury based, family-owned business with a 40-year legacy.

Operating across distribution, wholesale, retail and ecommerce, The Nevada Company is a fast-moving, entrepreneurial business where no two days are quite the same. We’re looking for an experienced Executive Assistant / Business Coordinator to work closely with our Managing Director and provide the organisation, follow-through and commercial support needed to keep the business moving forward.

This is much more than a PA role. You’ll be the Managing Director’s trusted right hand; managing priorities, keeping them organised and making sure important things don’t fall through the cracks.

But you’ll also have a wider business impact. You’ll coordinate projects, connect people across the business and keep agreed actions and outcomes moving. When something is stalled, you’ll spot it, follow it up and help get it back on track.

Projects could range from opening or closing retail stores, coordinating branding initiatives and business improvement projects, through to keeping day-to-day operational priorities moving across the business.

What you’ll be doing

Executive support

  • Provide high-level PA/EA support to the Managing Director, including diary management, correspondence, meeting preparation and follow-up.
  • Help manage priorities, deadlines and competing demands.
  • Prepare information and materials for meetings and ensure actions are captured and followed through.
  • Handle sensitive commercial and confidential information with discretion.

Business coordination & accountability

  • Coordinate key projects and initiatives across the business, keeping people focused on agreed outcomes and deadlines.
  • Follow up actions and commitments and ensure things don't simply disappear into the “too hard” basket.
  • Identify where projects or tasks are getting stuck and work with the right people to get them moving again.
  • Provide visibility to the Managing Director on progress, risks, issues and things requiring attention.
  • Work across the warehouse, retail, wholesale and ecommerce functions, building strong relationships and keeping communication flowing.

Projects & business initiatives
You’ll have a hand in a diverse range of projects, which could include:

  • Opening or closing retail stores
  • Branding and marketing initiatives
  • Business improvement projects
  • Operational changes and implementation
  • Coordinating activities across different teams and functions

Finance & administration

  • Manage day-to-day finance administration in Xero, including payment batches and accounts receivable.
  • Follow up outstanding debtors and support reconciliations and reporting.
  • Work alongside the finance function and support administration across the business.
  • Experience with Cin7 or a comparable inventory/ERP system would be an advantage.

About you

You’re highly organised, commercially minded and someone who makes things happen.

You’ll probably have experience as an Executive Assistant, Business Coordinator, Office Manager, Operations Coordinator or in a similar senior administration role.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience providing high-level PA/EA or executive support.
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero, including payment processing and receivables.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a natural ability to follow things through.
  • Strong project coordination skills and the confidence to keep others accountable for agreed outcomes.
  • Outstanding people skills — you can build credibility and rapport with everyone from the warehouse floor through to senior leadership.
  • Confidence to have the conversations that need to be had, while remaining calm, constructive and diplomatic.
  • A proactive, practical approach and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Discretion, sound judgement and the ability to handle commercially sensitive information.
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

You don't need to be the loudest person in the room. In fact, we’re looking for someone who is calm, capable and quietly persistent; someone who can build great relationships while still making sure commitments turn into outcomes.

What’s in it for you?

This is an opportunity to become a key part of a growing Christchurch business and work closely with the Managing Director across a genuinely varied role.

You’ll have autonomy, visibility across the whole business and the opportunity to make a tangible difference. not simply manage someone else’s diary.

The role is part-time and flexible, with Monday as the core day in the office. We are open to a school-hours arrangement for the right person.

If this sounds like you, please apply now via SEEK and include a cover letter outlining your relevant previous experience and availability for part time work.

All enquiries to Pip Simmons at Bona Fide Consulting – [021 474 736](tel:021 474 736).
