Early Years Senior Practitioner- Maternity Cover

Part-time|Up to 4 days, to be agreed|Fixed term| Salary pro rata £15,172

Stepping Stones Preschool is looking for someone who is kind, enthusiastic, experienced and passionate about early years, with SENCO experience or a strong understanding of supporting children with SEND to join our small, friendly team as a Senior Practitioner.

We are a small, nurturing preschool in Wells, providing a warm and welcoming environment where children aged 2–4 years can learn, grow and develop at their own pace.

The role

Working closely with our Preschool Leader, you will help support the day-to-day running of the setting and provide a high standard of care, learning and development for our children.

You will also play an important role in supporting our SEND provision, working alongside families and outside professionals to ensure every child gets the support they need.

The role will include:

• Supporting the Preschool Leader with the day-to-day running of the preschool
• Taking on leadership responsibilities when required
• Supporting and mentoring other practitioners
• Taking an active role in our SENCO responsibilities
• Working closely with parents, carers and outside agencies
• Supporting individual children with additional needs
• Ensuring our provision is inclusive and meets the needs of every child
• Supporting planning, observations and assessment
• Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and EYFS practice
• Creating a fun, stimulating and nurturing environment for our children

About you

We would love to hear from you if you:

✨ Hold a relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above

✨ Have experience working with children aged 2–4

✨ Have SENCO experience or a good understanding of SEND

✨ Are confident, organised and able to take responsibility

✨ Have a warm, caring and nurturing approach

✨ Enjoy working as part of a small, close-knit team

✨ Are passionate about giving every child the best possible start

✨ Have excellent communication skills and enjoy building positive relationships with families
