ECE Unqualified Teacher Reliever

About the role

Candidex is excited to invite Unqualified Early Childhood Relief Educators to join our team across the Wellington region—including Kāpiti, Porirua, Hutt Valley, and Wellington City. This is a casual position that offers brilliant flexibility and a fantastic entry into early childhood education.

Whether you are looking to gain experience, studying towards a qualification, or simply passionate about working with tamariki, this role is all about stepping in to provide an extra pair of hands. You will support permanent staff, help the daily programme run smoothly, and ensure children receive high-quality care when regular team members are away.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting with engaging, age-appropriate play and learning experiences for young children.
• Supporting permanent staff with the day-to-day delivery of centre routines and activities.
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for the children.
• Building warm, positive relationships with the children and working collaboratively with the centre team.
• Actively supervising children to ensure their wellbeing, health, and safety at all times.
• Contributing to a helpful team environment by jumping into tasks wherever support is needed most.
• Following all centre-specific protocols, Health and Safety guidelines, and hygiene requirements.
• Adapting quickly to the different daily flows and routines of the centres you visit.

What we're looking for

• Must currently reside in New Zealand and hold a valid work visa or residency/citizenship (we cannot provide visa sponsorship for this casual role).
• Available to work casual shifts Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 6:00pm.
• Friendly, adaptable, and team-focused with a genuine passion for working with children.
• Reliable and professional with excellent communication skills when working with colleagues.
• Comfortable stepping into diverse ECE settings and helping out where needed.
• Reliable transport (own vehicle or public transport) to travel to centres across your preferred areas.
• Commitment to child safety, wellbeing, and inclusive practices.
