ECG Technician

K.J. Somaiya Hospital & Research Centre, a 550-bedded medical college and hospital in Sion, Mumbai, is hiring an ECG Technician for its Cardiology Department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform 12-lead ECG for OPD, IPD, ICU and emergency patients as per doctor's advice

• Prepare patients for the procedure, explain the process and ensure their comfort and privacy

• Place electrodes accurately and ensure good quality, artefact-free tracings

• Perform bedside ECGs in wards, ICU and the Emergency Department when required

• Assist in stress tests (TMT), Holter monitoring and 2D Echo as per competency

• Identify and promptly report abnormal or critical tracings to the duty doctor

• Maintain and calibrate ECG machines, check consumables and report faults for repair

• Maintain patient records, ECG registers and daily activity logs

• Hand over tracings to the cardiologist for reporting and ensure timely delivery of reports

• Follow infection control and patient safety protocols

Requirements:

• 10+2 with Diploma / Certificate in ECG Technology, Cardiac Care Technology or Cardiology Technician course

• 1–2 years of ECG experience in a hospital preferred

• Ability to recognise basic arrhythmias and critical ECG changes

• Knowledge of TMT, Holter or 2D Echo will be an added advantage

• Good patient handling and communication skills

• Basic computer skills

• Willingness to work rotational shifts is mandatory
