Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented ECHO/Vascular Technician to join our private medical practice on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of hands-on experience performing diagnostic cardiac and vascular ultrasound examinations, preferably in a private practice or outpatient clinical setting.

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong technical skills, professionalism, patient-centered care, and the ability to work independently while maintaining accurate documentation and efficient clinical workflows.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Cardiac Ultrasound (ECHO)

  • Perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) to evaluate cardiac structure and function.
  • Obtain high-quality diagnostic images and Doppler measurements.
  • Assess cardiac chambers, valves, ventricular function, and blood flow according to established protocols.
  • Recognize technically inadequate or abnormal findings and promptly communicate them to the interpreting physician.
  • Maintain proper equipment settings and optimize image quality.

2. Vascular Ultrasound Examinations

  • Perform vascular duplex studies based on the practice's clinical needs and the technician's verified competencies.
  • Conduct examinations such as carotid duplex, lower-extremity arterial and venous studies, and other vascular assessments as indicated.
  • Obtain accurate Doppler waveforms, velocity measurements, and relevant anatomical images.
  • Follow established protocols for vascular imaging and promptly escalate urgent or concerning findings to the physician.
  • Ensure studies are complete, technically accurate, and ready for physician interpretation.

3. Patient Care and Clinical Support

  • Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and explain examinations in a professional, reassuring manner.
  • Verify patient identity and confirm the appropriate examination and clinical indication.
  • Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, dignity, and comfort throughout each visit.
  • Follow infection-control procedures and maintain a clean, safe examination room.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, medical assistants, and front-office personnel.

4. Private Practice Operations

  • Work efficiently in a small, fast-paced outpatient medical office.
  • Coordinate with front-office staff regarding appointment schedules, patient flow, and examination timing.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure ultrasound equipment and supplies are ready for use.
  • Maintain organized, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) or applicable reporting system.
  • Assist with workflow improvements that support patient satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and reliability in meeting the scheduling needs of a part-time practice.

5. Equipment Maintenance and Quality Assurance

  • Perform routine equipment checks and follow manufacturer recommendations for cleaning and maintenance.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and promptly report service needs.
  • Follow applicable clinical protocols, safety standards, and quality-assurance procedures.
  • Protect patient information in accordance with HIPAA and applicable privacy requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of professional experience performing echocardiography and vascular ultrasound examinations.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a private medical practice, physician's office, or outpatient diagnostic setting.
  • Proficiency in obtaining diagnostic-quality ultrasound images, Doppler measurements, and complete study documentation.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain an organized workflow.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-care skills.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and diagnostic imaging documentation.
  • Current BLS certification, if required by the practice.
  • Appropriate professional credentials, such as RDCS, RCS, RVT, or RVS, consistent with the duties performed and the practice's requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with cardiologists, vascular specialists, or other interpreting physicians.
  • Experience managing scheduled diagnostic studies in a private outpatient practice.
  • Familiarity with physician-directed diagnostic protocols and quality-assurance standards.
  • Ability to perform both cardiac and vascular studies competently, with credentials and experience appropriate to each examination.
  • Strong organizational skills and a professional, patient-focused approach.

Work Schedule

  • Part-time position with a mutually agreed-upon schedule.
  • Workdays and hours to be coordinated according to practice needs and patient volume.
  • Availability for consistent scheduled shifts is preferred.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced ultrasound professional who values accuracy, efficiency, discretion, and excellent patient care. We are looking for someone who can integrate smoothly into a private practice environment, work collaboratively with physicians and staff, and contribute to a professional and welcoming patient experience.

How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit a resume outlining their relevant ECHO and vascular ultrasound experience, professional certifications, and availability for part-time work.
