What they need

Kettering Area | 19.5 Contracted Hours per Week | Term Time | PE & Alternative Provision

More than a standard coaching role

Our EcoCoach Educators are trusted professionals who take ownership of their delivery, use their judgement and put children’s needs at the heart of their practice.

If you’re an experienced sports coach, teaching assistant or teacher looking for greater responsibility, varied experience and a clear pathway for progression, this could be the role for you.

The Role at a Glance

You will be contracted for 19.5 hours per week during term time, primarily delivering afternoon provision at one primary school site in Kettering.

Your core role will include:

  • Daily afternoon PE delivery
  • After-school clubs and enrichment provision
  • Planning and preparation associated with your delivery
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, behaviour management and operational quality

For candidates looking for more hours, there may also be opportunities to work across other EcoCoach provisions, including:

  • Alternative Provision (AP)
  • Home education provision
  • Wraparound care
  • Additional after-school clubs and enrichment
  • Holiday camps during school holidays

Additional opportunities may be available both within Kettering and across our other local delivery areas, so further hours may particularly suit candidates who are willing and able to travel.

Your 19.5 contracted hours are not dependent on accepting additional work. Any additional hours will be offered separately where suitable opportunities are available.

About EcoCoach CIC

EcoCoach CIC is a values-led, child-first organisation delivering:

  • Alternative Provision
  • PE and enrichment
  • Wraparound childcare
  • Holiday camps

We work with children with a wide range of abilities and needs, including children who may not be thriving within mainstream systems.

Our approach is to design provision around the children who need the greatest level of support, ensuring delivery remains inclusive, purposeful and meaningful for everyone.

As EcoCoach continues to grow, we’re building a team of Educators who care about doing things properly and want to develop alongside the organisation.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

As an EcoCoach Educator, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, inclusive PE using EcoCoach schemes of work
  • Adapt sessions confidently for SEND, SEMH and diverse needs
  • Lead structured, engaging and purposeful after-school clubs
  • Build positive and professional relationships with children, schools and colleagues
  • Maintain appropriate behaviour expectations and respond confidently to challenges
  • Take ownership of day-to-day operational quality, including registers, reporting, resources and communication
  • Contribute to Alternative Provision, home education and other EcoCoach services where additional opportunities are agreed
  • Have opportunities to lead holiday camps, including delivery and on-site organisation
  • Uphold high standards of safeguarding, professionalism and child-centred practice at all times

This role requires someone who can use their initiative, solve problems and take genuine ownership of the quality of their provision.

Essential

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Experience delivering PE, sport or physical activity to children
  • Strong behaviour-management skills and safeguarding awareness
  • Confidence adapting provision for SEND and differing needs
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A reliable, organised and professional approach
  • The confidence to work independently and use initiative
  • A relevant coaching or education qualification, such as Level 2+ sports coaching, a TA qualification or teaching background

Desirable

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience mentoring or supporting other staff
  • Experience working with children with SEMH or additional needs
  • Experience or an interest in Alternative Provision or home education
  • An interest in child-led or Play Their Way approaches
  • Forest School or outdoor-learning experience, or a willingness to undertake training
  • An ambition to progress into leadership, mentoring or quality-assurance responsibilities

Progression & Development

For the right person, this role offers genuine scope to develop as EcoCoach grows.

Future opportunities may include:

  • Lead Educator roles
  • Site leadership
  • Quality assurance and mentoring
  • Additional responsibility across Alternative Provision
  • Senior operational or curriculum responsibilities

We actively look to develop and promote people from within EcoCoach who consistently demonstrate the skills, values and standards required for progression.

Working Pattern

19.5 contracted hours per week during term time, primarily based at one school site in the Kettering area.

The core working pattern is predominantly afternoon-based, making this role particularly suitable for someone looking for consistent term-time hours with the potential to build additional hours around their core timetable.

Further hours may become available across EcoCoach services and locations for those seeking a larger working pattern.

Holiday-camp opportunities may also be available during school holidays.

How to Apply

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with shortlisted candidates invited to interview.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from people who want to take ownership, develop professionally and make a meaningful difference to the children they work with.
