What they need
CARL’S is a new food brand preparing to launch in the United States. We are building our Auckland team and looking for an Ecommerce and Retention Lead to own our online shopping experience and develop the programmes that keep customers coming back.
You will take responsibility for our Shopify website, landing pages, email and SMS marketing, subscription experience and conversion improvement.
The role
This is a hands-on role. You will personally build and update website pages, launch campaigns, set up customer journeys and test improvements.
Working closely with our General Manager, Head of Meta and Performance Creative Lead, you will connect advertising with the right shopping experience and turn first orders into lasting customer relationships.
Our designers will support you with creative assets. You will own implementation and day-to-day improvements, briefing and coordinating specialist developers when more complex work is required.
What you will own
- Build, maintain and improve our Shopify website, including the homepage, product pages, navigation and mobile shopping experience.
- Create dedicated landing pages for different audiences, advertising concepts and offers, keeping the message consistent from ad through to purchase.
- Manage product setup, bundles, promotions and merchandising, checking pricing and functionality before changes go live.
- Identify where customers leave the purchase journey and test improvements to pages, offers, cart and checkout.
- Own the subscription experience through Skio, including onboarding, renewal communications, account management and failed-payment recovery.
- Build and maintain email and SMS flows covering welcome, browse and cart abandonment, post-purchase education, replenishment and win-back.
- Plan and deliver a weekly campaign calendar, combining useful food content, product education and relevant offers.
- Write campaign copy and briefs, coordinate design assets, build messages and check targeting, links and scheduling.
- Segment customers by purchase history, engagement and subscription stage so communications are relevant.
- Manage list growth, consent, deliverability and contact frequency.
- Review cancellation reasons and customer feedback, then improve the experience to support retention.
- Maintain reliable ecommerce reporting and track conversion, average order value, repeat purchases, subscriber retention and revenue per customer.
- Prioritise tests by likely commercial impact, recording results and applying what works.
What you will bring
- Practical experience owning ecommerce performance for a consumer brand.
- Strong Shopify skills, including personally building landing pages and making website updates.
- Experience running email and SMS campaigns and automated journeys in Klaviyo or a similar platform.
- Experience with subscription ecommerce and platforms such as Skio or Recharge.
- Examples of improvements you have delivered in conversion, repeat purchase or customer retention.
- Confidence using analytics, customer behaviour and feedback to identify opportunities.
- Strong commercial judgement around offers, discounts, margin and customer value.
- Clear copywriting, attention to detail and reliable campaign execution.
- The ability to manage a development brief and check that the finished work meets the requirements.
- Experience with food brands or US customers would be valuable.
Your first 90 days
You will prepare and test the website and subscription journeys for launch, establish core email and SMS flows and put a clear campaign calendar in place.
You will build reporting that shows how customers move from first visit to purchase and renewal, then prioritise improvements as results become available.
Why join CARL’S
You will own the ecommerce and retention programme for a new food brand entering the US market.
With a dedicated advertising and creative team alongside you, you will have the opportunity to build the customer experience from launch and see how your work contributes to business growth.
