Ecommerce Executive

Product listings, online trading and commercial development

Salary: £26,000–£29,000 per year, depending on relevant skills and experience.

Location: HX5 9DB

The opportunity

Are you quick to pick things up, good with numbers and curious about how an online business works? We’re looking for someone who wants to get involved, learn through doing and build a career in e-commerce.

You’ll join our small, growing, employee-owned retail business and work alongside experienced colleagues. You’ll help launch products, improve listings, check prices and stock, and use sales data to work out what we could do better.

This is a hands-on role with no team-management responsibility. You’ll personally carry out the day-to-day work, learn our systems and follow tasks through to completion. We’re interested in your ability, curiosity and willingness to learn; you don’t need to arrive knowing every part of the job.

What you will do

Your work will cover our website and marketplaces, with support from colleagues as you build your knowledge. You’ll:

· Set up new products and update listings, checking descriptions, images, prices and product information for accuracy.

· Improve existing listings so customers can understand our products and choose confidently.

· Help organise and set up promotions, then look at the results to see what worked.

· Use Excel and our business systems to review sales, margins and stock, spot changes and suggest practical actions.

· Check competitor prices and help implement pricing updates accurately.

· Monitor stock availability, identify slow-selling products and support forecasting and future stock orders.

· Work with suppliers and partners to keep product information and compliance records up to date.

· Use customer feedback, reviews and returns information to identify improvements.

· Try AI tools and new ways of working, checking the results carefully before using them.

You won’t be expected to know how to do all of this on day one. As you learn, you’ll take ownership of more tasks and develop an understanding of how products, pricing, stock and marketing affect sales and profit.

What we are looking for

We’re looking for someone who enjoys figuring things out and takes pride in doing the work properly. You’ll suit this role if you:

· Pick up new information and systems quickly, and ask questions when something doesn’t make sense.

· Are comfortable with numbers and can use Excel to organise and review information.

· Notice details, check your work and understand why accuracy matters.

· Take initiative, while knowing when to ask for guidance.

· Enjoy practical problem-solving and follow through on tasks.

· Are interested in e-commerce, technology and how businesses make money.

· Respond well to feedback and are willing to learn through practice.

· Can organise your workload and adapt when priorities change.

Experience and qualifications

You must have at least three A levels at grade C or above (or the equivalent) and a minimum of one year of commercial experience. Experience in e-commerce, online retail, merchandising or a commercial support role would be particularly useful. You may be an assistant or executive looking for broader experience, or have gained commercial experience through another job or an apprenticeship.

Shopify or marketplace experience would be helpful, but is not essential. Neither is a degree or experience managing people. We’re more interested in evidence that you can work with numbers, learn quickly and get things done.

Learning and progression

You’ll work closely with experienced colleagues and learn how the business operates, from products and purchasing through to websites, marketplaces, customers and finance.

As your skills grow, you’ll take greater responsibility for product ranges, promotions and trading performance. For the right person, there is scope to develop into a broader commercial role and, over time, a Business Manager position. Progression will come from the knowledge you build and the results you deliver.

Working with us

We’re a small team where everyone contributes directly. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, put forward ideas and see the impact of your work. You’ll also need to be happy handling routine updates and accuracy checks alongside more analytical projects.

How to apply

Send us your CV and a short note explaining why this role interests you. Include an example of something you taught yourself, a problem you solved or a piece of work you improved. This could come from a job, study or a personal project. Tell us what you did yourself and what you learned.

Pay: £26,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
