ECRL Telecommunication Maintenance Technician

Guangdong Intercity O&M Sdn Bhd is the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) provider for the **West Section of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL)**​ — Malaysia's flagship 665 km rail infrastructure connecting Port Klang to Kelantan. As ECRL moves toward its 2027 operational launch, our team plays a critical role in ensuring the operational readiness of this nation-building project.

Key Responsibilities Requirements

1. Carry out inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs of railway telecommunications equipment, fibre-optic/copper cables and network links in accordance with maintenance plans and work procedures.

2. Use standard telecommunications test equipment to perform basic tests; assist with fault isolation, equipment replacement and restoration of communications services.

3. Accurately complete alarm, fault, test and equipment records, and manage tools and spare parts.

4. Participate in shift work and emergency response, and comply with safety requirements for equipment rooms, trackside areas and railway worksites.

5. Support other departments on maintenance-related matters, including service recovery and incident response.

6. Record and report daily work to the supervisor in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements.

7. Maintain a clean and orderly workplace before, during and after work in line with 5S practices.

8. Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with KTMB Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE) policies at all times.

Requirements

1. Certificate, SKM Level 3, Diploma or equivalent in Communications, computer-related disciplines, Electronic Information Engineering Technology or a related field.

2. Familiarity with OSHE requirements, high-voltage work safety procedures where applicable, PPE and 5S practices is preferred.

3. Willing and able to work shifts in indoor and outdoor environments and to respond to emergency breakdowns.

4. No fear of heights; normal vision, hearing and colour vision; medically fit and able to pass the required medical examination.

5. Good written and spoken Bahasa Malaysia and English.
