The Role
We’re looking for a motivated, detail-focused EDI Assistant Manager to join our operational team at Te Puna.
Reporting to the EDI Manager, you’ll play a critical role in managing EDI processes, supporting the EDI/EAN team, and ensuring a smooth, accurate flow of data from the packhouse to Zespri. You’ll also provide guidance and leadership to the EDI/EAN Operators and assist in supporting shipping and operational teams when required. This is a fast-paced role that requires strong leadership, excellent attention to detail, and a can-do attitude, particularly during peak harvest periods.
What You’ll Be Doing
Ensure accurate and timely data entry from the packhouse to Zespri.
Lead, train, and support EDI/EAN Operators, helping maintain procedural adherence and data integrity.
Ensure all packs are bar-coded correctly and reflect accurate grower, size, and variety information.
Support shipping and site teams as required to meet operational needs.
Collaborate with internal teams (Inventory, Logistics, Site Management, Harvest Coordinators, Quality Controllers) and external partners (Zespri, AVOCO, Yieldia) to resolve data issues.
Assist the EDI Manager with projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain compliance with Health & Safety policies and company procedures.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in data management, inventory systems, or EDI operations.
- Ability to train, supervise, and motivate a small team.
- Strong planning, prioritising, and time management skills, particularly under peak season pressure.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team approach.
- High accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Flexible, self-motivated, and solution-oriented mindset.
- Positive, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Flexibility with working hours during the harvest period (March–June).
Preferred:
- Experience in the kiwifruit or avocado industry.
- Tertiary qualification in business management or similar.
- Familiarity with EDI software, Radfords, or inventory management systems.
