What they need

Are you organised, creative and excited by the idea of helping to bring beautiful illustrated books to life? Quadrille is looking for an Editorial Assistant to join the team. This is a fantastic opportunity to start or develop your career in publishing, supporting the editorial team and getting involved in the day-to-day work that goes into creating our inspiring books.

About the team

Quadrille is an award-winning illustrated non-fiction publisher, creating beautiful and distinctive books across cookery, craft, lifestyle and gifting. This is a brilliant opportunity to get involved in the publishing process, work closely with the wider editorial team and develop your skills across a varied and exciting list.

The role

As Editorial Assistant, you’ll play an important role in keeping the Quadrille editorial team running smoothly, providing day-to-day editorial and administrative support and helping our books come to life.

Key responsibilities:

Administration

  • General office administration e.g. sorting post, arranging couriers and transport.
  • Dealing with complaints (e.g. typos, missing pages, correspondence to customers) and submission inboxes.
  • Sending finished copies / foreign editions to author and / or agent.
  • Taking minutes for department meetings and circulating as directed.
  • Liaising with the Rights and Sales teams particularly ahead of book fairs and sales conferences, but also for translation queries, author interview requests and cover approvals.
  • Running reports from Biblio around publishing schedules and covers.

Editorial

  • Compiling the UK and US catalogues twice a year to include compelling sales copy.
  • Oversee the reprints process and correct any errors or typos flagged by the author or editor.
  • Checking proof corrections, proofreader’s marks, colour proofs and plotters.
  • Assisting editors on new editions, re-use titles and buy-ins from foreign publishers.
  • Minuting new project meetings and taking part in discussions around potential new books.
  • Keeping an eye on Biblio data to ensure that it’s up-to-date and accurate.

What you’ll bring

Essential criteria:

  • Highly organised with the ability to multitask and handle competing priorities
  • Exceptional personal organisation and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of people
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to work autonomously using initiative
  • Dedication to being creative and innovative

Disability Confident

If you have opted into our disability confident scheme, the above are the essential criteria you must meet to be considered for our interview scheme. Please note, there may be occasions where the volume of applicants means we can’t take all eligible candidates to interview.

Application instructions

Please apply with your CV and cover letter outlining why you are the right candidate for the role by 11:59pm on 17th September 2026.

  • Please ensure you include a cover letter, as it is a crucial part of our assessment process. The cover letter offers an opportunity to show how your experience and interests align with the role requirements. Typically, we expect the cover letter to be no more than one or two pages in length.
  • Please note we are looking for someone to join the team as soon as possible, but we are also happy to accommodate a reasonable notice period for the right candidate.
  • We anticipate a two-stage interview process which will include a virtual first-stage interview and in-person second stage interview. We are happy to discuss this further with you throughout the recruitment process.
