About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Editorial Manager to lead our editorial division, manage editorial teams, and drive content quality, audience growth, and business performance. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between content and business, translating organisational goals into effective editorial strategies while balancing commercial priorities with editorial integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the editorial division, overseeing editors, team performance, content quality, and editorial strategy.
• Translate business objectives, including traffic growth, revenue, and brand partnerships, into actionable editorial strategies while maintaining editorial integrity.
• Analyse content performance, audience data, and key metrics to identify growth opportunities and inform editorial decisions.
• Lead and mentor editors, writers, and copy editors, ensuring clear priorities, effective resource allocation, and timely delivery.
• Build a strong understanding of editorial products and audience behaviour to improve engagement and content performance.
• Collaborate with commercial, SEO, operations, and leadership teams to align editorial priorities with business goals and resolve competing content and commercial priorities.
• Stay ahead of US sports news, industry trends, and evolving digital publishing practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in digital media, journalism, or editorial roles, with proven team leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of digital publishing, editorial strategy, content quality, and audience engagement.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, drive performance, and develop editorial talent.
• Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in sports media, particularly covering US sports.
• Understanding of digital media monetisation models, audience analytics, and KPI tracking.
• Ability to navigate and balance between organization goals and editorial independence while upholding creative freedom and journalistic standards.
• Familiarity with SEO, audience analytics, and digital publishing tools.
• Experience managing multiple editorial teams or content products.
