EDS Circuit Engineer Contractor

We need a hands-on EDS engineer who can start contributing quickly on a live vehicle programme. The focus is schematic capture and 2D harness drawing, working directly with our customer and their suppliers. Zuken is our used toolset, but we will seriously consider strong experience in comparable tools such as Capital, Vesys, Arcadia or E3. You will take wiring diagrams from concept through to a manufacturable sign-off state and help resolve quality and warranty issues as they arise. This is a delivery role, so we need someone who can get up to speed on the programme with minimal ramp-up.

Scope of work

• Prepare wiring diagrams and circuit schematics from the vehicle architecture, system diagrams and component transmittals.
• Mature the wiring diagrams from concept to sign-off so they are buildable and manufacturable.
• Define fuse and ground topologies in line with DFMEA requirements and industry best practice.
• Produce 2D harness drawings and electrical assembly documentation from the released schematics.
• Take in 3D routing and harness geometry data produced by others and reflect it correctly in the 2D drawings. 3D routing itself is not part of this role.
• Help define circuit-related design validation tests, and investigate and close out any issues that testing raises.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions on quality issues, and report progress clearly to the programme team and senior management.

Essential experience

• At least 3 years in automotive electrical engineering.
• Proven, current experience of an EDS circuit design tool for schematic capture and 2D harness drawings. Zuken is preferred, but Capital, Vesys, Arcadia or E3 experience is equally welcome.
• Solid understanding of EDS design, including fusing, grounding and network topologies.
• Good knowledge of 2D harness drawing standards and manufacturing requirements.
• Working knowledge of low-voltage vehicle electrical systems.
• Familiarity with OEM specifications, standards and verification and validation methods.
• Degree or equivalent professional accreditation in a relevant engineering discipline.

Useful to have

• Hands-on Zuken experience, which would shorten the ramp-up considerably.

• Exposure to DFMEA and wider safety activities, as a contributor rather than a lead.

• Experience working with international, cross-company teams.
