What they need

Educational Leader – Futuro Childcare & Education

About us

Futuro began with a small group of people who shared a strong ethical belief in how childcare should be delivered — through safe, high-quality education, in thoughtfully designed environments, where educators and families are treated with genuine respect.

From the very beginning, our founding team made decisions not by following strict rules, but by doing what was right and keeping children safe. This values-led approach has shaped who we are and how we operate. Meet the team: https://www.futuro.nsw.edu.au/meet-the-team

Our Vision

At Futuro, our purpose is “To be the most trusted and human-centred provider of education.” As the Assistant Centre Manager, it will be your responsibility to bring this purpose to life and make decisions that support and reflect this vision every day.

About the role

We’re looking for a leader who will support the Centre Manager in investing time and energy in building a strong, capable team—supporting quality practice, strengthening pedagogy, and guiding educators toward meaningful professional goals.

About our centre

Futuro provides high-quality education and care for 127 children, operating 6:30am–6:00pm, Monday–Friday. Designed by a leading architect, the service features modern learning spaces and high-quality, age-appropriate resources.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and strengthen practice across Quality Area 1, supporting high-quality programming, planning, and documentation.
  • Coach and mentor educators through reflective practice, role modelling, and collaborative professional conversations.
  • Embed a safe, inclusive, and responsive environment for every child—supporting strong supervision, effective routines, and respectful relationships.
  • Champion a learning culture inspired by Reggio Emilia, where play-based learning and children’s voices are central.
  • Work in a distributed leadership model—partnering with room leaders and other Educational Leaders to drive consistency and improvement.
  • Support child-safe practices by reinforcing clear expectations, identifying risks early, and escalating concerns appropriately.

About You

  • ECT qualification (or equivalent).
  • Current Working With Children Check, First Aid, and Food Handling Certificate.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in an early learning environment.
  • A strong commitment to high-quality education and care, and a genuine belief that child safety is everyone’s responsibility.
  • You value growth—through professional learning, feedback, and reflective practice—and you contribute positively to team culture.

Why Join Futuro?

  • Generous benefits: paid training, professional development opportunities, and up to 50% childcare discount (when available).
  • Pay rate: $49.00 – $67.00 per hour (inclusive of WRP and EL allowance)
  • Time out of ratio: dedicated time off the floor to do focus work.
  • Career growth: upskilling and leadership development, including our Future Leader Program.
  • Strong team culture: supportive, collaborative workplace with regular connection activities and a focus on wellbeing.
  • Paid Professional Development
  • Paid WWCC
  • Paid First/Aid and CPR
  • Free Lunch Every Day
  • 4 Weeks Paid Parental Leave
  • EAP Support
  • Psychologically Safe Work Environment

Child Safety Commitment

At Futuro, the safety, well-being, and dignity of every child are our highest priority. We have zero tolerance for any form of child abuse, neglect, or harm, and we are committed to creating environments where children feel safe, secure, and supported to thrive.

We are committed to:

  • Building a child-safe culture where safety is embedded in everyday practice, leadership, and decision-making
  • Upholding clear professional boundaries and high standards of educator conduct
  • Using robust screening through our Futuro SafeStart Recruitment process, including thorough checks and referee validation
  • Ensuring ongoing training so all team members understand child protection obligations and mandatory reporting responsibilities
  • Encouraging and supporting people to speak up, and responding promptly and appropriately to all concerns in line with legal and regulatory requirements
