Help Bring Music into More Schools
At Ted Brown Music, we believe music makes life better. Our Educational Services Representatives help students, educators, and school music programs access the instruments, products, and support they need to succeed.
We’re looking for a relationship-driven, organized, and musically knowledgeable individual who enjoys working with people, building partnerships, and supporting music education in our communities.
In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted resource for school band and orchestra directors, coordinating instrument rentals, supporting school events, and identifying opportunities to help music programs thrive.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain strong relationships with music educators, school administrators, and school music departments.
- Coordinate instrument rental events, including rental nights at public and private schools.
- Support student instrument selection through demonstrations, play testing, and instrument aptitude activities.
- Prepare and coordinate rental event marketing materials, school communications, and mailings.
- Organize instrument demonstrations and pretesting events, including scheduling, staffing, and equipment preparation.
- Visit assigned schools on a weekly or biweekly route to deliver and pick up repairs, instruments, inventory, loaners, and exchanges.
- Identify opportunities to support school music programs through instrument sales, accessories, percussion, print music, and audio products.
- Coordinate school quotes by gathering product specifications and communicating details to the appropriate team.
- Participate in music conferences, festivals, contests, and other educational events.
- Support other Ted Brown Music departments with deliveries and school-related services.
What We're Looking For
- At least 2 years of experience in the music industry, preferably in sales.
- Background in music and strong musical instrument or product knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships.
- Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- A customer-focused, approachable, and cooperative attitude.
- Ability to work independently, manage a route, and coordinate multiple school activities.
- A bachelor's degree in music or a related field is preferred. Relevant education and experience may substitute for overall qualifications.
Travel & Physical Requirements
This position involves approximately 75% travel, primarily to area schools, churches, offsite locations, and music events. Company vehicles are available following completion of a motor vehicle background check.
The role requires regular driving, delivery of instruments and promotional materials, and the ability to lift and move musical instruments and equipment. Some items may weigh 63 pounds or more and may require overhead lifting or use of a ladder. Work environments may include elevated noise levels during instrument and audio demonstrations.
