Educational Technology Assistant Skills Required

1.   Data Management & Analysis Skills

      Data Organization & Cleaning: Ability to structure, organize, and clean various types of data (e.g., educational records, usage logs, survey responses) using tools like spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets) or basic database concepts.

      Data Extraction & Transformation (ET L Basics): Understanding how to extract data from different sources and transform it into a usable format for analysis.

      Data Visualization: Skill in presenting data clearly and effectively using charts, graphs, and dashboards (e.g., within Excel, Google Data Studio, or basic Python/R visualization libraries).   Basic Statistical Concepts: Familiarity with fundamental statistical terms and methods (e.g., averages, percentages, trends, correlations) to interpret data and draw insights.

      Reporting: Ability to create clear and concise reports summarizing data findings for various stakeholders.

2.   Simple Programming Skills

      Scripting for Automation: Basic proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, VBA for Excel) for automating repetitive tasks, processing text files, or simple data manipulation.

      Understanding of Algorithms & Logic: Ability to think algorithmically and break down problems into logical steps that can be coded.

      Debugging Basics: Skill in identifying and resolving simple errors in code.

3.   Computer Troubleshooting Skills

       Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows, macOS, and possibly Linux operating systems.  Ability to diagnose and fix issues related to computer hardware (e.g., CPU, RAM, hard drives, motherboards, power supplies).

       Identifying and resolving software issues, such as application crashes, slow performance, or conflicts between programs.

       Basic understanding of LAN, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity issues, as well as router/modem setup and troubleshooting.

       Knowledge of security software and techniques to detect and remove malware, viruses, and spyware.

       Troubleshooting printers, scanners, monitors, external hard drives, and other peripherals.

4.   Software Installation and Configuration

• Proficiency in installing and configuring software, including antivirus programs, multimedia applications, productivity software, and more.

5.   Multimedia Application Skills

       Familiarity with the software used for image editing, video production, and design tasks.

       Proficient in PowerPoint, Keynote, or Prezi for creating and delivering multimedia presentations.

6.   Networking and System Integration

• Ability to set up and configure devices such as projectors, cameras, and audio systems for multimedia presentations or productions.

• Understanding how to use streaming platforms, live broadcasting software, and video conferencing tools like OBS Studio, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams.

7.   Customer Support and Communication

• Good communication skills to assist users with troubleshooting or training on multimedia software and applications.
