EL2 Platform Solution Architect

A leading Federal Government Department is seeking an experienced EL2 Platform Solution Architect to play a critical technical leadership role within a major enterprise transformation program.

12 month contract. Based in Richmond or Geelong (3 days in office/week)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design and implementation of complex platform solutions across cloud, integration, data and enterprise technology domains.
• Deliver secure, scalable and business-aligned technology solutions.
• Develop architecture artefacts, technical designs, standards, reference implementations and reusable engineering patterns.
• Provide technical leadership across cloud platforms, integrations, identity and access management, platform engineering and security.
• Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code, DevSecOps practices, CI/CD automation and secure software delivery.
• Design and implement modern platform capabilities, including self-service engineering solutions and internal developer platforms.
• Lead technical workshops, architecture reviews and governance activities.
• Provide technical oversight for complex delivery, operational and architectural challenges.
• Manage technical risks, dependencies and technical debt.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and solution designs.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across business and technology teams.

About You
You are a highly experienced Solution Architect with a strong background in enterprise platform engineering, cloud architecture and complex technology delivery. You bring a practical, hands-on approach and enjoy working closely with engineers to solve challenging technical problems.

Essential Experience

• 7+ years' experience in architecture or senior engineering roles, including at least 5 years as a Solution Architect.
• Proven experience delivering complex enterprise-scale cloud, platform and integration solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience across both Microsoft Azure and AWS environments.
• Expertise in Azure Landing Zones, cloud networking, identity and access management, security services, monitoring and cloud governance.
• Experience designing enterprise platforms, CRM and integration solutions, including Salesforce, MuleSoft and API-led architectures.
• Strong experience with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, DevSecOps and CI/CD delivery practices.
• Experience with Kubernetes, container platforms, cloud-native services and modern integration technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to create architecture artefacts, technical standards and solution designs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable Experience

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• TOGAF certification or equivalent architecture qualification.
• Azure and/or AWS professional certifications.
• Experience in large-scale customer-centric industries such as health, insurance or other complex enterprise environments.
• Previous experience as an Enterprise Architect or Program Architect.
• Experience working across both Agile and traditional delivery environments.
